Victims of Time

The laugh I always knew is a memory I now hold
I trembled and clutched onto your hand, begging you to never let go
I knew we were bound to drift apart,
A promise that I once carved in the veins of my heart

But time pulled us a lot earlier than I expected
You and I growing differences we never thought we'd have, we thought everything was set
You and I, the comrades of each other's dark road
Now are comrades that go on their separate ways, leaving light as we go

We are the victims of time
Because time had always been cruel and stung our wounds just enough to dim the light,
In our eyes when we were walking towards the future we thought we'd have
Where you and I still existed, where time gave us that chance

So to my comrade, I wish you goodbye
I wish you boundless happiness, the kind that never makes you question or sigh
And wherever time takes you, I hope it takes you somewhere far where you are free
Although time drifted us apart, I’ll always know that it also bought you to me
